Music Video Analysis

The music video created for “My Life Be Like (Ohh Ahh)” by Grits (Remix ft. 2Pac & Xzibit - Tokyo Drift video version) is a mix of narrative and performative. The line and light changes between two different things. The line changes between curved and linear. The lighting changes between artificial and daylight. It is artificial when the American is racing in the parking garage and on the streets of Tokyo and it changes to daylight when he is practicing on the pier and on the mountain road. The key moments are when they show the American most of the shots are mid shots. That is when he is shown inside of a car drifting. It is also shot with wide shots showing the outside of the cars. The entire time the camera is moving to follow the cars as they drive and give them a more dramatic look. The video kinda does follow the song. It does because all the scenes are from the movie The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. In the movie the American, Shaun, starts out not really caring but in the end finds something to care about when he friend/mentor Han is killed and Shaun has to fix his mistake and the trouble he caused.
